During his medical education and ophthalmology residency, he spent time in the United States at <strong>Louisiana State University School of Medicine<\/strong>, in Germany at <strong>St\u00e4dtisches Klinikum Kemperhof Koblenz<\/strong>, and in the United Kingdom at The Western Eye Hospital, Imperial College.<\/p><p>In <strong>2007<\/strong>, he obtained equivalency from the UK General Medical Council and earned the right to practice medicine in the United Kingdom with Full Medical Registration. In <strong>2012<\/strong>, he fulfilled his compulsory service at <strong>K\u0131rklareli State Hospital<\/strong>. In <strong>2016<\/strong>, he was awarded the title of <strong>Associate Professor<\/strong> in the field of Ophthalmology.<\/p><p>In <strong>2017<\/strong>, he completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at <strong>Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University<\/strong> with a GPA of 4.0. As a result of his research at the Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University Biomedical Engineering laboratory, R\u0131fat Rasier developed a technique that enables the incisions made in the cornea during cataract surgery to be sealed using laser welding at the end of the operation, allowing the surgical incision to be closed effectively.<\/p><p>In current cataract procedures, incisions are either left self-sealing or closed with sutures. Through laser tissue welding experiments, successful results were achieved in closing cataract surgery incisions using laser technology without the need for stitches. With this system, tissue can be welded and sealed from a distance of 2 millimeters without direct contact, using a specific wavelength. Dr. Sezer Hac\u0131a\u011fao\u011flu graduated from <strong>\u00c7ukurova University<\/strong> Faculty of Medicine in <strong>2012<\/strong>. In <strong>2013<\/strong>, he began his ophthalmology residency at <strong>Marmara University<\/strong> Pendik Training and Research Hospital and successfully completed his specialization with a thesis titled \u201cThe Effects of Standard and Accelerated Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking Treatment on Corneal Epithelial Thickness and Subbasal Nerve Morphology in Patients with Keratoconus.\u201d<\/p><p>In <strong>2022<\/strong>, he successfully passed the international examination held in Paris and was awarded the title of Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (<strong>FEBO<\/strong>). Previously, he worked at Sultan Abd\u00fclhamid Han Training and Research Hospital, Medipol University \u00c7aml\u0131ca Hospital, Medipol Mega University Hospital, and D\u00fcnyag\u00f6z Ata\u015fehir Hospital.<\/p><p>Having numerous national and international publications and presentations in his field, Hac\u0131a\u011fao\u011flu continues his academic career as a faculty member at the Department of Ophthalmology, <strong>Bah\u00e7e\u015fehir University<\/strong> Faculty of Medicine. In <strong>1989<\/strong>, she graduated from <strong>Istanbul University<\/strong> Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at <strong>Istanbul University Cerrahpa\u015fa Faculty of Medicine<\/strong> in <strong>1993<\/strong>.<\/p><p>She completed her master\u2019s degree at the <strong>Johns Hopkins University<\/strong> Wilmer Eye Institute in the United States. Between <strong>1993<\/strong> and <strong>1997<\/strong>, she specialized in cataract, cornea, and laser surgery at the <strong>University of California<\/strong>, becoming an eye laser surgeon.<\/p><p>She represented the University of California at numerous international congresses and published her work in highly respected journals. She also contributed to the training of many ophthalmologists and researchers. In <strong>1997<\/strong>, she was awarded as the best young researcher by Bausch &amp; Lomb. Later, due to her research and medical achievements, she was accepted into the exclusive EyeSTAR Program at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, <strong>University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)<\/strong>.<\/p><p>In <strong>1997<\/strong>, Dr. Leyla Kandur founded the EyeSTAR LASIK Institute in Istanbul and, thanks to her outstanding surgical results, became one of the most preferred surgeons worldwide within a few years. She worked at this institute until <strong>2005<\/strong>.<\/p><p>She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (CLAO), Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Istanbul Medical Chamber (ITO), and Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOD). Between 2000 and 2002, I worked as a general practitioner at Samsun Central No. 15 Health Center.<\/p><p>In 2002, I began my residency as an assistant doctor at the Department of Ophthalmology, <strong>Ondokuz May\u0131s University<\/strong> Faculty of Medicine, and completed my specialization as an <strong>Ophthalmology Specialist<\/strong> in <strong>2008<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Between <strong>2008<\/strong> and <strong>2011<\/strong>, I worked as an ophthalmology specialist at Samsun Gazi State Hospital. While continuing my academic studies at the same institution, I successfully passed the Ministry of Health\u2019s chief assistant examination and was appointed to the academic staff of Antalya Training and Research Hospital, one of Turkey\u2019s most beautiful cities.<\/p><p>While continuing my academic work and training residents in Antalya, I passed the <strong>Associate Professorship<\/strong> examination in <strong>2016<\/strong>. In November <strong>2019<\/strong>, I left Antalya Training and Research Hospital and continued my career by opening my private clinic, after serving in both educational and administrative roles.<\/p><p>I successfully passed the International and European Ophthalmology Proficiency Exams (ICO and EBO). I also received training in strabismus, oculoplastic, and facial aesthetic surgery at <strong>Boston Eye and Ear Hospital<\/strong>.
