During his medical education and ophthalmology residency, he trained abroad at <strong>Louisiana State University School of Medicine<\/strong> in the United States, <strong>St\u00e4dtisches Klinikum Kemperhof Koblenz<\/strong> in Germany, and The Western Eye Hospital, Imperial College, in the United Kingdom.<\/p><p>In <strong>2007<\/strong>, he obtained equivalency from the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom and earned the right to practice medicine with Full Medical Registration. In <strong>2012<\/strong>, he fulfilled his mandatory service at K\u0131rklareli State Hospital. In <strong>2016<\/strong>, he was awarded the title of <strong>Associate Professor<\/strong> in the field of Ophthalmology.<\/p><p>In <strong>2017<\/strong>, he completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at <strong>Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University<\/strong> with a GPA of 4.0. As a result of his research at the Biomedical Engineering laboratory of Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University, R\u0131fat Rasier developed a method that enables the incisions made in the cornea during cataract surgery to be sealed with laser at the end of the procedure.<\/p><p>In current cataract operations, incisions are either left open or closed with sutures. Through laser tissue welding experiments, positive results were achieved in closing cataract surgery incisions without stitches using laser. With this system, the incision can be sealed from a distance of 2 millimeters without direct contact with the tissue, using a specific wavelength. <strong data-start=\"162\" data-end=\"170\">2 months<\/strong> at Bellaire Institute of Cataract Surgery in Houston, Texas; and <strong data-start=\"223\" data-end=\"231\">1 month<\/strong> at Texas Institute of Cataract Surgery in San Antonio.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">During this period, he foresaw the importance of excimer laser technology in future eye treatments and, upon returning to Turkey, focused his work in this field.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"427\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">In <strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"8\" data-is-only-node=\"\">1992<\/strong>, he became the first physician in Turkey to perform excimer laser treatment, pioneering refractive surgery in the country.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He also performed the first sutureless cataract surgery using ultrasound in Turkey in <strong data-start=\"8\" data-end=\"16\">1990<\/strong>, and introduced the LASIK method for the treatment of high myopia in <strong data-start=\"98\" data-end=\"106\">1997<\/strong>.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He was among the first physicians in Turkey to perform laser tear duct and glaucoma surgeries.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"427\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">To date, Dr. G\u00f6ker has performed nearly <strong data-start=\"28\" data-end=\"40\">100,000<\/strong> surgeries and has achieved successful results, particularly in the treatment of high myopia.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He achieved a reduction of <strong data-start=\"23\" data-end=\"39\">30 diopters<\/strong> in one myopic patient and reductions of <strong data-start=\"71\" data-end=\"90\">20\u201325 diopters<\/strong> in over a hundred patients.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He serves as the Turkey representative of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) and has been honored with an &#8220;Honor Award&#8221; Prof. Dr. Zeki Tun\u00e7<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-30f7fb4f sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"30f7fb4f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"\" data-start=\"28\" data-end=\"147\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"8\" data-is-only-node=\"\">In 1985<\/strong>, Prof. Dr. Zeki Tun\u00e7 graduated from <strong data-start=\"17\" data-end=\"64\">Dokuz Eyl\u00fcl University Faculty of Medicine<\/strong> and began his specialization in ophthalmology in <strong data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"152\">1988<\/strong> at <strong data-start=\"161\" data-end=\"215\">Pierre and Marie Curie University in France<\/strong>.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">During his training, he worked as a resident at Necker and Laennec Faculty of Medicine hospitals, as well as at the Centre National d&#8217;Ophtalmologie des Quinze-Vingts in Paris, gaining extensive knowledge and experience in ophthalmology.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"149\" data-end=\"268\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">Thanks to his outstanding performance during his residency, he was awarded the title of &#8220;Chef de Clinique&#8221; at Paris XII University and served as the head of refractive surgery (treatment of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism).<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">In this role, he carried out significant work in refractive surgery and contributed to the treatment of many patients.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"270\" data-end=\"427\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">Prof. Dr. Tun\u00e7\u2019s areas of interest include cataract, retinal and macular diseases, as well as their surgical treatments.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He has particularly focused on cataract surgery and retinal diseases, performing many successful operations in these fields.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He has also conducted studies on the effects of diabetes on the eye, as well as on biometry and immersion techniques.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"514\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">Throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Tun\u00e7 has published numerous articles in national and international journals and continuously updates his knowledge and experience by closely following developments in the field of ophthalmology.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"601\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded-sm px-px py-[0.2rem]\">He is currently actively working at his <strong data-start=\"21\" data-end=\"66\">private practice in \u015ei\u015fli, Istanbul<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
