1. Dr. Ferşat Muhacir, MD
Dr. Ferşat Muhacir was born in Iran in 1967. After completing his primary and secondary education in Ankara, he entered the Faculty of Medicine at Çukurova University in 1986 and graduated in 1992. In 1993, he began working as a resident at the Eye Clinic of 19 Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. After completing six months of training at the Eye Clinic of Gazi University in 1996, he received his Ophthalmology Specialist title in 1997.
After his specialization, he went to the United States and observed clinical practices at UCSF (University of California San Francisco). In 1998, he briefly worked as a specialist at Burdur SSK Hospital and was then appointed as an Eye Diseases Specialist at Bucak State Hospital. In 2002, he traveled to the Netherlands and Austria to gain experience in modern cataract surgery.
Dr. Ferşat Muhacir is a member of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).
From July 2006, he worked full-time as an ophthalmologist at Özel Lider Hospital, which he co-founded, until October 2009. Between November 2009 and April 2010, he worked at Özel Anamas Şelale Medical Center in Antalya, and briefly at Özel BSK Lara Hospital in May–June 2010.
Dr. Ferşat Muhacir worked for a total of 10 years, between 2010–2020, at the Eye Clinic of Özel Antalya Anadolu Hospital.
In April 2009, he successfully passed the “International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Clinical Assessment” exam. On May 8–9, 2009, in Paris, he successfully passed the oral and written examinations of the European Board of Ophthalmology, earning the European Union Diploma in Ophthalmology and the title of FEBO (Fellow of European Board of Ophthalmology).
Dr. Ferşat Muhacir has performed over 12,000 surgical procedures and specializes in phaco cataract surgery, trifocal (smart lenses for near, intermediate, and distance vision) and toric (astigmatism-correcting intraocular lenses) refractive lens surgery, glaucoma laser, stent and surgical treatments, grafted pterygium and other anterior segment surgeries, as well as medical retina diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vascular occlusions.
He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, Turkish Ophthalmology Society, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Since July 1, 2020, he has been providing medical services at his private eye clinic in Muratpaşa, Antalya.
2. Prof. Dr. Deniz Turgut Çoban
I completed my university education at the Faculty of Medicine, Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun between 1993 and 1999. Between 2000 and 2002, I worked as a general practitioner at Health Center No. 15 in central Samsun.
In 2002, I started as a resident at the Department of Ophthalmology, Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine, and completed my specialization as an Ophthalmology Specialist in 2008.
From 2008 to 2011, I worked as an ophthalmology specialist at Samsun Gazi State Hospital. While continuing my academic work at the same institution, I successfully passed the chief resident exam conducted by the Ministry of Health and was appointed to the academic staff of Antalya Training and Research Hospital, one of the most beautiful cities in Turkey.
While continuing my academic work and training residents in Antalya, I passed the Associate Professor exam in 2016. In November 2019, I left Antalya Training and Research Hospital and focused on opening my private clinic, continuing to fulfill educational and administrative responsibilities.
I have successfully passed the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) and European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) examinations. I received training at the Boston Eye and Ear Hospital in strabismus, oculoplastic, and facial aesthetic surgery. Additionally, I am a graduate of the Open Education Faculty, Philosophy Department.
3. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ünal
I was born in Sivas in 1974 and graduated from Istanbul Kabataş High School for Boys in 1991. I completed my medical education at the English Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa in 1998. In 2002, I completed my residency training at the Department of Ophthalmology, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, and became an Ophthalmology Specialist.
Between 2002 and 2003, I worked at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital. In 2004, I completed my military service as a Medical Lieutenant at Kayseri Military Hospital.
In 2005, I started working at the Department of Ophthalmology, Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. I became an Associate Professor in 2007 and a Professor in 2013. In 2011, I trained at the Ocular Microsurgery Institute in Barcelona, Spain, with Dr. JL Güell.
In 2015, I was appointed Acting Rector of Akdeniz University, and on August 3, 2016, I became the permanent Rector, serving until August 14, 2020. I also served as Director of the Akdeniz University Eye Bank, Deputy Chief Physician, and Chief Physician of Akdeniz University Hospital. Additionally, I participated in the hospital purchasing commission and the post-graduate education executive board.
My professional specialties include phacoemulsification cataract surgery, keratoconus and other corneal diseases, corneal transplantation, glaucoma (ocular hypertension), dry eye, and ocular surface disorders.
I currently provide medical services to my patients at my private clinic in Konyaaltı, Antalya.
4. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer İlhan
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer İlhan was born in Ahlat in 1978. She graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, earning the title of Medical Doctor.
She then completed her specialization in Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine, Erciyes University. After completing her compulsory service, in 2011 she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Mustafa Kemal University, Hatay. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2016.
In 2016, she began working at Antalya Private Akdeniz Şifa Konyaaltı Medical Center. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilüfer İlhan is proficient in English.
She currently provides medical services at the Veni Vidi Göz Antalya center.
5. Prof. Dr. Elif Betül Türkoğlu Şen
Dr. Elif Betül Türkoğlu, who graduated as the top student in 2005, began her residency in Ophthalmology at Ankara Hospital with high scores in the Medical Specialty Exam (TUS).
In 2010, she started her compulsory service as a specialist in the oculoplasty (ocular aesthetics) unit at Sakarya University Training and Research Hospital. After completing her service, she joined the Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology as an Assistant Professor.
Focusing on ocular oncology, she completed a fellowship at the Wills Eye Institute, Ocular Oncology Unit under Dr. Carol Shields in the USA between 2015–2016. During this time, she successfully completed a TÜBİTAK project on retinoblastoma treatment. She was awarded the title of Associate Professor in March 2017. In 2019, she observed the first-ever intra-arterial chemotherapy treatment for retinoblastoma at the National Cancer Center in Tokyo.
She received the title of Professor in November 2022 and has since focused her work on adult and pediatric ocular oncology, oculoplasty (eyelid and periocular aesthetic and functional disorders), and cataract surgery. She has published over 150 scientific studies in national and international journals and presented numerous papers.
She is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmology Society (TOD), Turkish Republics Ophthalmology Society (TCOD), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, International Society of Ocular Oncology (ISOO), and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). She serves as the education coordinator on the management board of TOD’s Ocular Infections Unit and is an active member of the TOD Ocular Oncology Unit. She is proficient in English.
She currently provides medical services at her private clinic in Muratpaşa, Antalya.
